I currently own an iphone and a windows phone 7 device...and an ipad. So...im only looking at this from a mobile point of view...not tablet. A few of my friends own android devices, im considering maybe having an android device on the side, for the odd game against my friends that isnt on ios or WP7. But would there be any other advantages to me having android over the other two. In terms of the OS not the handsets. I just want to really know if its worth me getting one...as i know things like flash isnt supported on ios, and it will be coming in t he future to WP7. But are there any other major things that i would benifit from? and in terms of apps, i know most ios and wp7 ones look a bit more polished, but are there any differences from android apps and iphone/wp7 apps apart from design.

WP7 apps "more polished"? There aren't enough apps for Windows-based phone to even compete with Android. Apple certainly has the lead on apps, but there are 100,000+ available for Android now, and it grows each day.

Android is available on a variety of devices of various levels of quality, so you can choose based on price and features.

Android is far easier to hack, there's a far more open hacking and modding community, and mods are available for nearly every major model. I modded my Google Nexus One three weeks after I purchased it.

Whatever apps you can get for the iPhone, you can get something similar (or exactly the same app) on Android. Not all are available, but the gap is rapidly closing.

Oh, one important thing: you can actually change the batteries on most Android phones. You can't do that on the iPhone. And if you root and mod an Android phone, the carrier or the manufacturer won't force it back.

You can watch a lot of reviews on YT on these things but here is my personal opinion as i own an android phone. [Droid X]

I used to own an iphone and got the droid to see how these two compare and i let the iphone go.
Though the iphones are not bad, i just felt the droix gives me flexibility over everything. The customizations are endless and thats one thing i love about the phone. True you can do that on the iphone but not without the jailbreak i believe.

Now that you asked about the OS. I believe that the OS for both phones are brilliant. Not technically speaking "its like a drag race of two. Both having same hp and mods". I really didnt find much difference.
Yes, the iphone market is huge but the Android market is ever growing and you can pretty much find an app for anything. I can bet promise that you will not be disappointed with the android market.
Im not too sure about the windows but my friend owns it and he complaints about the market all the time. He is getting ready to download the Android OS on his phone.

In conclusion, i believe that the OS for both the android and the iphone is great but its these little things that makes one more superior then the other: (and of course personal opinion as well)
- Customization
- Apps
- Service provider (probably a big thing)
- Design
etc.

I hope i answered your question. I am no specialist when it comes to this stuff but i am speaking from personal opinion and what i have witnessed around me.
