gymnastics, soccer, karate, etc.)? He's still pretty young, but I feel like we sit at home all day and do nothing. We go to the store, and the park, and other things like that.... I just feel like he's bored. Also, what's the usual age for beginning preschool?

Thanks!

My kids started preschool at age 3 for three hours two days a week. You can start dance lessons at 3 years, T-ball at 4, gymnastics at 4, soccor and wrestling at around 4, lots of things! Get a book of sports and ask your kid what he's interested in.

i know a couple of people who started their kids activity at the age of 4. but if your son understands what he is doing then i think you should begin his activities.

My children started preschool at 3, and they went for 2 years. My daughter has been doing ballet since she was 4. My sons have been playing soccer since they were 5. Look in your community and see how young they have classes for. Swimming lessons you can start at any age, you can also look in your community to see what free activities they have for kids.

My daughter is 2.5 and we just started her in gymnastics class. It is a parent participation class and she loves it. She is always a little shy at the beginning of class, but after a few minutes she really starts to get into it. We do this class at the Y and the teachers are great.

I say as soon as the activity allows them to. For instance we have gymnastics classes here for children as young as 18 months and they do not have to be potty trained. I enrolled my son in gymnastics a month ago before he turned 3. He still isn't fully potty trained either. He loves the class and there are even younger kids in his class. Preschool is usually 3 or 4 and some require the child to be potty trained while others don't. just different wherever you live. I say he would love gymnastics right now and it also teaches coordination and balance. He's your child though and you will have an instinct on whats the best time for him to start these kind of activities and to start school.

before a child could be involved in any activity they have to be potty trained, so i would say 3 at the earliest. i used to take dancing school and most of the children started at 3, so i think 3-4 is a normal age to begin activities like dance, gymnastics, music lessons. you can try activities at your local library. i work for a public library and the childrens librarian does read alouds once a week, as well as crafts on a regular basis. its a great way for him to meet new kids and to start an interest in reading. i would suggest visiting your local library and seeing what programs they have available for children. and the normal age to start preschool is four.
