I'm a freshman in high school, and throughout the course of my life, I have received a lot of **** about being jewish. Yesterday, a peer of rather high intelligence tried to lecture me about my own religion and told me after I denied some of his claims and he denied all of mine that I knew absolutely nothing of my own religion and that he knew way more about it. Everyone who was around this person seemed to agree with him even though they didn't even really know what he was talking about.

For instance, he seemed to believe that eating kosher solely meant eating cured goat; nothing about meat and dairy or anything else. He denied the existence of the Tenach, and denied that there was just about anything he didn't know about Judaism.

Then, even worse, he seemed to believe that my religion was messed up, he claimed that Ishmael, Abraham's unruly rebelling son was the first jew, not Abraham itself. The he said that the reason Jesus was so popular was because he was a ray of light on how the other jews were messing everything up.

I've always been hearing things about how I'm supposed to be really greedy, and how I betrayed god, and how the jews killed Jesus, but what I want to know is just what different Christians are told about the Jewish people.

Christians usually accept that Judaism is Christianity's parent.
Jews and Christians are frequently on good terms.

Baptist here, and christian since 1973. I have been taught, and have confirmed in scripture and other sources, that Jews are God's chosen nation, the seed of Abraham. They are also the nation God used to bring the Messiah, Jesus Christ, into the world. The majority of His own people (those whom He created-John chapter 1) rejected Him as Messiah and crucified Him. This was prophecy fulfilled so that we all could live, according to God's grace, through faith, which has always been God's plan. The Jews will play a primary role in the end times, preaching Jesus Christ is Lord over all creation, and they will be given the gift of tongues to do this in every corner of the world. They are my brothers and sisters in Christ, who for the most part remain in unbelief and therefore in spiritual darkness. This is very temporary. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem, which will soon be the center of the world, geographically and spiritually.

Christians are good in propagating all the falsehoods about Judaism. Christianity selectively picked some verses from Isaiah, Jeremiah and Micah and distorted the messages to falsely claim that those are prophecies of the messiah (Jesus) when the fact is that those verses are about the redemption of Israel.

In Judaism, there is no such thing as original sin (from Adam and Eve), but Christians distorted the Adam and Eve story to claim the 'downfall of man' and justify the claim of the 'need for redemption by sacrifice'. This contradicts YHWH's words that he does not need sacrifice. Moreover, Judaism is both a way of life and the philosophy of how one conducts oneself - primarily behviour (actions) over belief, whereas Christianity is about belief over behaviour (actions).

The historicity of Jesus is backed up by absolutely no evidence. Jesus is not mentioned in Romans records nor Rabbinic records. Neither did Philo (supposed to be living in the lifetime of Jesus) mention about Jesus though Philo wrote 30+ manuscripts (containing more than 800,000 words) on god and on Jews affairs.

The gospels were not written by disciples or eyewitnesses as the gospels were written pseudeponymously (writers of unknown origin), and furthermore, these gospels were written after 70 AD, and according to Papias, those accounts were from 3rd or 4th hand of somebody heard from somebody who heard from somebody. What is plainly obvious was that someone with knowledge of the Old Testament weaved a story (likely a mythical figure) around the "claimed prophecies" of the messiah and built it into a "life and blood" character that existed in the early part of the first century. Matthew errer in his claim of (Matthew 2:3) that the prophets proclaimed the 'one born in Nazareth and that he shall be called a Nazarene.' Such a claim can never be found anywhere in the Old Testament. Moreover, the account of the massacre of innocents (babies) by Herod never took place [not recorded in any historical records nor by Josephus], and that Herod died in 4 BCE. Therefore, it is another claim in the bible that does not match up to actual history.

How could Jews kill a mythical figure? But the excuse had always been used in history against Jews: by Martin Luther (On Jews and their lies) and by Hitler when such people wanted to stir the emotion/hatred against Jews.

"Jews are greedy" was a situation forced by Christendom Europe. For refusing to believe a lie and to convert to a belief the Jews knew to be a lie, the Jews were persecuted all over Europe from 4th century AD till about 1100 AD, when these Jews were able to settle at a safer sanctuary in Poland. The church set rules that Jews could not be employed, and that forced Jews to make a living through renting or through money lending (pre-cursor of banking). Forced from such circumstances, the Jews stick together as a community, and also to use whatever means necessary to survive through the hostile hardship. Culturally, the Jews stood together as a people and became more innovative at money-making - never giving up an opportunity because of the harsh conditions imposed upon them.

They are mad at your ancestors, not you, and don't read the Bible. They are mad because the Jews who weren't following Jesus crucified him with the Romans. Next time they bug you say "Doesn't the Bible also say we are Gods chosen people and wasn't Jesus Jewish?" I wonder how they will answer you. Be kind still. Study the Gospel so they cant lie to you about it. Don't judge us all on a few people, because Christians who follow Christs word are kind people.

Sadly it's pretty much true Eli, most so-called SUNday type pagan palace christians do think like that, yet they claim their Messiah is Jewish. It just makes you wanna cry. Just so you know Eli, the Messianic movement actually believes and understands the torah and tenuck. If you want to have an intelligent conversation, talk to one of them. The christians you talk of are not Elohim's people in any exaggeration.

First of all, you shouldn't generalize. Most Christians are taught that Christianity is the outcome of Judaism, meaning Judaism was necessary for the coming of Christ. We also know that 'someone' had to betray Jesus, so we don't demonize Judas for it.

Don't confuse the vast majority of us with the fundamentalist extremists who have their own version of just about everything. Some of them even deny that Jesus was Jewish, and are unaware that Jewish scripture forms the first part of the Christian Bible, the Old Testament. You seem to have the misfortune of living in a pocket of uneducated, intolerant 'Christians.'

I'm sorry I don't have a quick fix for you. Just try to tune out the ignorant bigots, and know that not all of us are like that.

It depends on who their teacher is, in a christian education obviously they don't learn much about Judaism, just like you don't learn much about Shakespeare in Chemistry class.
