I'm a freshman in high school, and throughout the course of my life, I have received a lot of **** about being jewish. Yesterday, a peer of rather high intelligence tried to lecture me about my own religion and told me after I denied some of his claims and he denied all of mine that I knew absolutely nothing of my own religion and that he knew way more about it. Everyone who was around this person seemed to agree with him even though they didn't even really know what he was talking about.
For instance, he seemed to believe that eating kosher solely meant eating cured goat; nothing about meat and dairy or anything else. He denied the existence of the Tenach, and denied that there was just about anything he didn't know about Judaism.
Then, even worse, he seemed to believe that my religion was messed up, he claimed that Ishmael, Abraham's unruly rebelling son was the first jew, not Abraham itself. The he said that the reason Jesus was so popular was because he was a ray of light on how the other jews were messing everything up.
I've always been hearing things about how I'm supposed to be really greedy, and how I betrayed god, and how the jews killed Jesus, but what I want to know is just what different Christians are told about the Jewish people.
