What are some interesting research topics for a college level physics course?

Hey, I am in a college level physics course that is calculus based. In my class I have to write a 2 page paper and give a short presentation on any topic of my choice. I wanted to do Chaos Theory but my instructor said that is more mathematically based and he would prefer something more related to physics and something that may relate to my field of study in the future. But, I can not think of any good topics. I have an interest in robotics and think that I could write about something in that field. I was hoping to possibly have a topic that allows me to make a model or something or show something hands on within my presentation. Does anyone have any good topics to research? Please and Thank you for any help : )

If you're still interested in chaos theory, you could try a more practical application like turbulence. Or you could build a simple electronics project, like a Wheatstone bridge (simple lie detector, they'll have everything you need in the department). Or you could look up superconductors - they should have some of those lying around too, and that's a cool demonstration. Applications range from computers to mag lev trains.
