What are the laws for transporting a lifted truck on a flatbed?

I'm planning on getting an F-350 and lifting it with 40" tires,I want to take it to different mud parks that range from 100 miles up to about 500 miles away,If you know mud trucks you know anything can break at any time so I don't want to drive it that far and have something break on me and not be able to get home. So what are the laws and regulations? I don't know the length of the flat bed,but the truck I would be borrowing would be a 97 F-350 dually if that matters at all.

Assuming it is tied down to the trailer correctly.....
Anything sticking over the perimeter of the trailer needs a red flag on it.
Make sure the whole thing is not over 13'-06" high and know that sometimes the "low bridge" signs lie and it is lower now because they added 4" of new asphalt to the roadbed.

You can mostly ignore the truck scales because you are not a commercial vehicle but always read the signs approaching them. [[Actually, a professional driver reads EVERY sign s/he passes.]] Some States want you to pull across the scales just so they can eyeball the trailer. Shouldn't be any problem there.

I am having to transpose a little here since I have been (hopefully not again) a commercial driver and you fall under a different set of laws. But other than what I mentioned, there are not very many rules for you, a civilian. Some States have different speed limits for vehicles pulling trailers.

You know the biggest problem I see constantly with civilians pulling trailers? Tires. Those trailer tires don't get used very often and I have seen thousands pulled over trying to replace that trailer tire. So be prepared.
