Do you have to give up everything in order to be a Disciple?

Jesus taught His followers to practice extreme faith just short of giving up everything for Him.

Luke 14:25-27 (New King James Version)

25 Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, WIFE and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

TRANSLATION:We must love Jesus so much that we will sacrifice our own lives to serve Him and dedicate ourselves to Him alone.

Nothing, Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, wants us to worship and be submissive to God the one and only.

Nothing really. As a matter of fact, I would not sacrifice anything for anyone, not even for God.

Well, I would never give my life up for Him. For all I know, he doesn't exist. I believe He does, but lets be frank, He might not exist. So in that case I would of killed myself for nothing.

Jesus never asked anyone to sacrifice for him, but Christianity knows how to make beliefs come out of his mouth.

I don't make sacrifices to idols or false prophets, so nothing.

Place everything under His Lordship, and let the Spirit and Word guide you.

Start by sacrificing all the things you know in your heart are wrong.

Ooo.. kinky.. I never knew Jesus was into S&M.. maybe he can give Maîtresse Françoise a run for her money..

the part of sacrifice is already done by JC. he died for us because He knows that the man can be deceived. Just follow all the teaching and you will be alright.

"Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." (Matthew 10:39)

"Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me." (Luke 9:23)

That is what a disciple of Jesus must be willing to do, in the words of Jesus himself.
