Tragic. It's about time he tables turned in that assailents must know that they attack at thier own risk. That sense of fear seems to have been lost over the last few years.

i dno what he was doing was wrong but then its still sad coz he was onli young but the owner was just defending himself! like most people would if they came into ur family home its kinda tragic but he shouldnt have been in there in the first place really

In the animal world, if a African Cape Hunting dog went into the watering hole of lion's pride, they would maul it to death. I think that we give ourselves too much credit.

Haven't seen the latest, but when the story broke some claimed he wasn't a burglar...mind you 3 or 4 lads out at 3pm in someone else's house, if they were breaking in and attacked the guy, maybe he can claim self defence. It's a very grey area of the law isn't it. If he is coming at you it's ok to use reasonable force but if he's trying to get away you have to let them, apparently.
EDIT:
We had an attempted break in a while back, I have weights at home and chased them with a dumbell bar, about 18inches and solid steel, they ran off so I returned to secure the house, but I'm sure if I caught them in my house I'd have used it. You can't take the chance they won't turn and come at you with something far worse. If I had of come at them from the side/behind I'd have gone for the knees or arm to disable them, not the head though.

One less theiveing toerag little scrote around to commit further crimes, the guy whoes house it was that he broke into should be given a meddle, we need to see more of this kind of thing, then these bastards might start to think twice before commiting more crimes.

More power to the victems of crime

Alot of burglars carry weapons and think nothing of attacking people in their own homes and they get away with it. When someone enters another person's property illegally the owner doesn't know what to expect. His main priority is to protect himslef and his family - and ask questions later. My friend's daughter who is only 12 went to the bathroom at 3 am to come face to face with an intruder brandishing a knife!! Thankfully he had the sense to run off but it could have been so much different. Play with fire expect to be burnt that's what I say

If he hadn't been a theiving scumbag breaking into someones house to steal their possessions that they worked for and aquired legitimately, then he would still be alive today.
Unfortunately the guy defending his property will probably have to do time now which, in my view is bullsh1t. He did nothing wrong
