My bell & gossett series 100 circulating pump is making a rattling sound. I'm still getting heat but it looks like the coupler starts to spin and then stops. Its cold now and I'm afraid what would happen if my circulating pump broke..what is the worst that can happen and who should I call to help me fix it?

I don’t know what kind of coupler you have but if it is spinning you may have some “loose screws” ……..so to speak
If you have an allen wrench set, you may want to stop the motor and see about tightening the set screws ………….if applicable

the coupling could be loose or the spider gear could be worn out. you should be able to replace either one yourself

If your pump stops spinning , your heater won't be circulating the hot water and your house will be cold.

The furnace will heat the water up to the point until the aqua stat shuts it off because the boiler will get too hot if the water isn't circulated.

It may be the coupler that connects the motor to the circulating pump that's going bad. It would be very smart to call someone and have them check it out before you lose your heat...
