What can i use to plug up my laptop in the car?

I'm going on a like 8 hour trip from alabama to missouri. I wanted to take my laptop to use. But my battery goes dead after about 1 or 2 hours. Is there something safe and easy to use to plug it into the car like you do an ipod?? Please Explain.

you need to get yourself a power inverter, it gives you mains power in the car to charge the laptop, it plugs into the cigarette lighter and you then plug the laptops charger into it to charge it up

Buy an inverter. Plug int cigar lighter. Make sure that the wattage and voltage output of the inverter is proper for the laptop. Ask the sales person to look at your laptop if you do not know.
