I have the one with just WiFi - just a reader, I didn't need 3G capability. I read books, play games, and if I wanted, I could get newspapers and magazines.
The non-3G came out Aug '10 and I received it for my birthday. I read constantly, but right now I'm hooked on a Solitaire game. It's so handy - I can see most school books going on them soon. I even bought a purse that has a large enough side pocket to carry it all the time.
