What can you tell me about cockatiels?

Today's my 15th birthday. I'm expecting some money in the mail from different parts of the family; my uncle told me that he will try to send me a couple hundred bucks.

Now, I have a little parakeet, Henry. He's the sweetest little thing I've ever owned, even though he is over a year old and still very wild. (I might ask a question about hand-taming a cranky older parakeet later.) The only problem is, I've always been dying to get him a friend, one that I can really bond with, and that Henry might learn a thing or two from his or her good example of behavior.

I've been thinking about getting Henry a little cockatiel friend, preferably a hand-fed male in the area. I've also been considering getting a really nice(r) well-ventilated cage that can house more than 2 birds. Now, I have a couple of questions:

One. Will Henry adapt to the new, strange species of bird? I really want to put them in a cage together, considering we have a very nice little hook and a chain on our living room ceiling that Henry really enjoys to be hanging from. I don't really know where I could put a big cockatiel cage. Plus, the area that Henry lives in is a very active place. It has my mom and dad and any visitors that come into the house, so it's always very animated and keeps him happy that he's a part of all the action that goes on in the house.

Two. What exactly can you tell me about cockatiels? Can they stand on perches like parrots, and perhaps even talk if they're trained to? Will they get along with my 8-year-old Akita, my 10-year-old Australian Shepherd, and my 7-month-old Dachshund puppy, not to mention my 16-year-old cat? How exactly do they tick, what can keep them stimulated besides toys? You know, that kind of thing. Linkage would be nice as well. :)
