I'm interested to see what people think about the ending, because I am not sure how I feel about it. I thought that Leck appearing on Leinid was an excellent twist, but I felt it was ruined when Katsa kills Leck. This is because it was a little too...instantaneous and I myself was disappointed, having read a whole book building up Leck's character as mysteriously deadly and invincible, only to have him die in an instant. I felt that this was very much anti climatic, although I'm wondering if Kristin did it like this to create a bit of "shock value" to spring the death on the reader when they wouldn't expect it? Whatever the reason, how did you guys feel about it?
And then when I found out that Po was blind, I thought it was the best, most realistically heart-wrenching ending that Kristin could have come up with...but I felt that this was once again ruined by the fact that Po, while he could no longer use his eyes, could see better than ever and still do everything he could do before. While I understand that this is the nature of his grace, I felt that it overcompensated for his loss a little too much, and ruined the sad ending that it began as.
Any other opinions?
