financial aid? My family has very little money. My mother is sick all the time and she only works twice a month. My mother's boyfriend tries to help out however he doesn't have enough. We are on every kind of financial aid plan they have so I am currently a senior in high school only 16 years old and I will be 17 on December 31 this year. I have been thinking about colleges and every college I looked at is expensive. The financial aid probably won't even be enough. I wanna major in English so I can write children's books. I want to be an author. Anyway I live in New Jersey but I don't want to stay close to home. I don't want my mom to always worry about me. I want her to know that I can manage on my own. The farthest I will go is to New York state or Pennslyvania. But we don't have the money I need ways of getting in to good colleges that are not too expensive. I don't want to go to a community school because it shows that I can't live alone. Because I will have to live with my mom. What should I do?

Im in the exact same boat as you. Except im 18 now. I started working at night and studying during the day. But in the end its worth it. Im now a qualified c+ programmer. I finished my 4 year course in 2.5 years. So if you're dedicated and work hard you'll be fine

Look into the military. They have great scholarship / tuition assistance programs - plus you will get the opportunity to learn a trade while you are earning a good living.

Life without risk is not much of a life ... in my humble opinion... and, there is not much that a man can say that evokes more pride than "I served my country in the United States Armed Forces" ...

Other than that, if you don't feel the need to pay back to all those that went before you - you could always check on scholarships - your school counselors should be able to help you.
