What do I do with a pink slip when i've paid off my car?

where am I suppose to keep it? in the car glove compartment or framed in my room somewhere? and is the paper really pink colored in california? i live in california so if you know the laws for it then great. so i basically paid off my car for my dodge. how long are they gonna take to send me a pink slip? and is that what they are gonna send? are they gonna send anything else? notifying me i'm done paying?
 
You will only need it if you sell or trade your car in the future. So keep it where you know where it is. It proves that you own the car, free and clear of any loans. When you sell or trade, you'll have to sign the pink slip over to the new buyer or dealer.
