Many tow companies will accept the title in exchange for the storage/fees.

But they are not required to.

If he won't - get the car out of storage and take it (and the title) to a scrap metal yard in your area and sell it to them. Hopefully they will give you more than the storage/fees for it.

But get your car out of the tow yard quick.....the storage fees are going up 25 per day for each day it sits there.

Got into a car accident last night, car is trashed... Towing company took car, and police told me to call them the nezt day to figure the car situation. I called them today, and they were very rude. They said I have to pay $150.00 + 25.00per day? My car is a toyota tercel damaged in the front, so I dont want it anymore b/c is not worth putting money fixing it. I told them I didnt want the car, and I could give them the title to them but he wants the money? Is this legal? 150.00 ? I dont know what to do with the car? they wont let me see the car or give me my things inside it until I pay the money. Where or what can I do to get rid of it?
the guy there said that he could only do one thing... recommended names right off his head, and said they are his buddies? these people are rude and scaryy.. I do really think that they do just want to get their money though...
 
It doesn't sound right that they wont give your things back, even if you choose not to get the car....that sounds like they are trying to scam you, I'd talk to a lawyer who offers free consultation in your area.
