During President Reagan's administration, he and Tip O'Neill wouild fight like cats and dogs all day long and then have cocktails in the President's personal quarters. President Reagan was famously quoted about his relationship with Congressional Dems, "We can disagree without being disagreeable".
Obviosuly, at some point this attitude was thrown aside by both sides. In your opinion, what was the event which started the decline of civility in US politics?
I have a strong candidate, but I'll wait and see what you all mention.
Neither of the first two people apparently understood the question. OK, we get it: you don't like Christian Republicans. So what exactly is it you allege one of them did to start the ball rolling towards the way things are so toxic in Washingtion today? I'm assuming it's not the sheer presence of conservatives which you allege made it happen, are you?
