What do you call sci-fi fans who actually believe some of those stories?

I think to believe that 1 in some 3 billion folks end up as a guy who gets mutated in to a spider man or a Dr.Manhattan type of being is not much crazier than believing in The Yahweh or Krishna or Buddha or Satan! Is there a term for people like that?
