What do you have to do more maintenance on a sports bike or a Cruiser?

Without crashing, both require minimum service.

The sport bikes tend to be ridden harder so they tend to need more maintenance.

Get both, you do the maintence and write a book.
And, PLEASE, include a chapter on dual-sports especially the near-liter ones!

I expect the thumbs, have a good evening!

Pretty much the same (if ridden the same). You may have to remove more plastic to get to the maintenance items more on sport bike.
Good luck and ride safe.

Probably sport bike. they tend to redline at 3x what a cruiser will. Parts moving that fast can only wear out quicker.

but ive never owned a sport bike.

In terms of maintenance, generally they're both going to be about the same in terms of oil, filter, and adjustments. Over the l-o-n-g term, it's more about the bike's build quality than your riding style. And to the guy who said "Sports bikes get ridden harder" -- uh, depends on the rider! You can go full-out on a cruiser and you can putt in town on a sports bike.

I will say, though, that a sports bike can get a quick rinse-down on the weekend and look in pretty good shape. A cruiser will generally have lots and lots of chrome which will require polishing and protective wax to keep it from pitting and rusting.

Lastly, I find it a bit strange that you're choosing a bike based on its maintenance. Don't you think it would make more sense to think about how/where you want to ride, and go from there?
