What do you think about Lord of the Rings?

I need an new book to read. I've kept on re-reading Harry Potter for the past weeks and I need something new. So I think I want to give LOTR a try.

What do you think about the series?
Or what books would you recommend?
(I'm 13 and my favorite book series is Harry Potter!!!!)

-Twilight still sucks-
i wanted to see the movies, but back then i was still a little kid.
 
Try it. It's a great fantasy book - possibly the first great fantasy book - and 13 is plenty old enough to read it.
 
I really enjoy the Lord of the Rings. I read them in high school and I am re-reading them now for a college course in Children's Literature (although I don't consider them Children's lit.)

Of course, I would recommend all three books from the Lord of the Rings. My favorite of the three is The Two Towers---it's action packed and fast moving.

Have you seen the lord of the rings movies??
i've seen the all tons of times, and i just now started to read the actual books. i've herd that the books are really really good, and so far for me they are. but it starts off a little slow..

but another really good fantasy series that is my favorite is The Gemma Doyle Trilogy. the first book is called A Great and Terrible Beauty. you would probably like them, since you like harry potter and fantasy :) it's definitely my favorite series

edit: Well if you haven't seen the movies, then definitely read the books! the story line will be more exciting for you if you haven't seen it before.
