Emily walked the expanse of the ballroom scoping it out. She had to know every part of this room: where one could disappear if need arise, where someone might try to hide, and where she needed to put up cameras. She was the CEO of her father's business. He had died of natural causes, which was rare for an owner in his business. He ran a private consulting firm for hired assassins.

She was hosting a party tonight to set up some more business and meet someone who could protect her from her hires. Michael, someone she had worked with before but never like this, was looking for the protection for the same thing as Emily was. If they were to accept each other's conditions, it would protect both from the other side, Michael from the industry and Emily from the hires. Emily pointed at the corners of the walls. The room had eight walls, so a camera in each of the corners would give her every angle she needed. She picked up the case next to her and threw a dart where she wanted the cameras, then put four more in the ceiling.

Emily turned on her heel walking back up to her room dressing in her black silk dress, accessorizing herself with her birthstone and her portfolio. When she arrived in the ballroom, the party had just started and it was time to get down to business.

Emily planned to dance with Michael then go about her business. She spotted him across the room in what he presumed was a blind spot in the security system, but he could not see the camera right above his head. She walked over to her table, placing her portfolio on the table, and leaving her bodyguards at the table to protect her portfolio. It was more important than her life. She made sure they understood that then walked over to Michael.

"Good evening Michael. How are you?" Emily asked politely showing her respect without bowing.

______

Michael entered the party in what he hoped was an inconspicuous manner, and strode gracefully towards the punch table. He was dressed in a black suit, with a gray tie underneath. His jet black hair shone majestically under the dance floor light, and his gray eyes surveyed the scene around him. A camera there....and there....

He made sure to locate them all, and just located the one above his head at the last second. Then, Emily came towards him.

"Well, good evening Emily." Michael said politely. "I'm quite well, and yourself," he asked.

______

Emily took in his black hair and gray eyes, noticing that they matched his suit and tie. "I hope to enjoy myself tonight. Would you care to dance?" She asked, a soft smile appearing on her face. She hoped everything would go well tonight or there would be problems that could arise. She took a glass of punch and slowly sipped on it awaiting his answer.

_______

Michael smiled.

"It would be an honor." he said, with a soft smile and held his hand out to her. He put her punch down for and took her hand, leading her out to the dance floor. He held her close as they danced, one hand holding hers, and the other around her waist.

It was nice, but awkward in a way. He had always felt attracted to Emily, but never admitted it.

______

Emily smiled up at him when they started to dance. Out of habit she relaxed in his arms leaning into him. She closed her eyes. Then all of a sudden she heard raised voices over at her table. She looked up, "Sorry I need to take care of this." She said after she had seen who it was at her table. One of her hires was trying to get to her portfolio.

______

Michael smiled and held her in his arms, just enjoying the closeness. Then, just like that, she was gone, having to deal with business again. He sighed, nodding and watching her walk off. He walked off the dance floor, and into the next room.

______

Emily walked over to her table a little displeased as she had needed to talk to Michael. "John!" She said sharply catching his attention. "What are you doing?" She hissed.

"They won't let me see my profile unless you are with me." John said, Emily sighed, "You have to be kidding. I just left the biggest chance in my life in order to deal with you trying to see your profile. I can tell you this now. There is no way you are going to see that file so leave my guards alone. And boys, thank you."

The two guards grinned at her, "Its our job Ms. Scarlett. Now I do believe you need to get back to Michael." said, Tom, the taller of the two of them.

She nodded and started to scan the room again for him.
