What do you think of this "educational" passage I found in my religion book?

Throughout the 7th and 8th century great armies of the Muslim followers of the prophet Muhammad arose in Arabia. These armies conquered much of the middle east, including the holy sites in Jerusalem. These Muslim invasions began to be seen as serious threats to Christianity. They conquered the Christian areas of northern Africa and by the end of the 8th century, conquered Spain, which had also been a Christian land. Spain then remained under the Muslim rule for almost another 800 years.

I go to a Catholic school, so religion is a subject for us. In all my years there, I have never seen anything like this. I'm not saying it wasn't true, but is it just me, or does anyone else see the negative connotation to "Muslim"?

Serious answers please.

Maybe because your educational paragraph contains words such as "conquer" and "invasions"... these information are wrong and your paragraph is twisting history.

People have always used religion as an excuse for power. It isn't Islam that is the problem. It is people. Christianity is no different. Look up the crusades.

truth prevails falsehood.

Anyway i don't understand what you are saying.
If other religions of the world are true, why would they have any fear of Islam? Falsehood would vanish.

So now you know that Islam was first a conquering force before it became a religion. Good for you.

It's true. In fact, one of the Roman rulers who was a christian said something a long the lines, if Muhamad was a true prophet, he's followers will conquer my land.
Less than 10 years later, it was conquered and the Roman ruler fled.

Facts are facts my dear.

the facts u read are indeed true, but pointing them out as the main mission of islam gives the negative connotation. a fact can be presented in many different ways depending on the implied message the writer wants to give..

after the prophet died, muslims were not exactly angels, many did hideous things, many conquered unjustly, and many used islam to reach their personal goals.. now it is put in history books that these people are the example that islam wants us to follow..

i dont know about u, but i oppose the wars that took place after the prophet died, not because they were intended to spread islam (at least hat's what is said) but because the way they went about spreading islam is completely wrong.. the prophet sent people to preach islam in different parts of the world.. he didnt go around telling people to become muslims or he would kill them.. in fact his neighbor was a jew, and many jews and christians lived in arabia peacefully without the prophet having to force them into belief.. eventually they all believed..

this is a long topic, but basically, not everything that happened after the prophet was accoring to what the prophet wanted.

where's ur hijab beautiful..
VERY serious answer!!! uve been warned '.'

[24:31] And say to the believing women that they restrain their eyes and guard their private parts, and that they disclose not their natural and artificial beauty except that which is apparent thereof, and that they draw their head-coverings over their bosoms, and that they disclose not their beauty save to their husbands, or to their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands or their sons or the sons of their husbands or their brothers, or the sons of their brothers, or the sons of their sisters, or their women, or what their right hands possess, or such of male attendants as have no sexual appetite, or young children who have no knowledge of the hidden parts of women. And they strike not their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may become known. And turn ye to Allah all together, O believers, that you may succeed.
