I am a grad student about to buy my first car. There is a private seller who is selling his 1999 Ford Escort SE sedan for well under kelly blue book value at $1,950. It has 125,000 miles on it. He says he has replaced the battery, timing belt, serpentine belt, muffler, alternator, radiator fan, engine mounts, new plugs and air filter. He said he fixed the front breaks last year but I may need to fix the rear breaks. What do you guys think. Is this a good buy? I will need this to last me at least until I finish grad school. Also, he is the second owner if that makes a difference.
