What does it mean when a person in R & S self announces a victory in a question or

answer? I constantly get people people self announcing victories here:

"So now that I have proven you wrong...."

"Well, clearly you flubbed that point..."

"My point has obviously been made..."

Is it because they need to buck themselves up, or shore up a weak statement?
