what does the found boat signify?

I am having trouble figuring out the signification of the title of "The Found Boat" by Alice Munro. I understand that the spring flood is probably a biblical symbolization. But I realize that there must be more to the story than just that. Can you help me find the signification of this story, please?
 
i have never read the story but in real life if i found a boat i would think that there were some lost people out there some where so maybe that's it lost people deserted, helpless or hopeless people and if you think it has biblical references this make sense God gave up on man kind when he caused the flood
