what does this mid-cycle spotting mean?

What does brown spotting about midway through your menstrual cycle mean? Is it a good sign or bad? It's not an infection, I've been checked... It is brown, lasts 2 days maybe 3 but it doesn't spot all day long, and its enough to stain the underwear..Help?
I've been meaning to start keeping track of exactly when this occurs, probably next month I'll start & then I can figure out if its ovulatory or not..
Since I already have one child, and no known health problems, should I assume this is ovulatory bleeding?
 
Well it could mean a bunch of different things! Brown blood is old blood, and when you are close to ovulation your cervix opens up to dispel the old blood sometimes. I had that 1 month before I got pregnant around ovulation which is strange for me, and I used to get it all the time when I started taking birth control. Also could be implantion bleeding but that is usually very light red blood that last for about a day.
