The trend overwhelmingly seems to indicate a drastic reduction of faith in more modernized nations where a slight upwards gain in developing nations . There seems to be an intelligence link . It appears that the smarter a nation gets the less religious they get where as the less developed areas with less resources are still free game to religions oppressive dogma .
I hide any response that I deem to be offensive or written by a cranky 2 year old crying because I force him to think .

It looks like they're "too smart for their own britches". Yes, it is possible to think yourself out of simple faith, because "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing." But those who have done serious, in-depth studying, have rejected the postulates that evolution presents.

Take for instance, Dr. Flew. While alive, he was an outspoken atheist, quick to criticize Christians left and right.

But he was also studying the internal structure and functions of the DNA molecule at (Oxford, I think?).

He finally had to conclude that evolution was wrong. He said in an interview that even though he received a lot of flack from his colleagues, he had to let the facts speak for themselves, and he concluded that in order for him to continue to accept evolution as fact, he would have to commit "intellectual suicide".

So, while nations might go through a trend that is antagonistic towards God in the beginning of their upswing in intellectual pursuits, there comes a point when they outgrow these outmoded ideas, and return to the basic fundamentals of God.

Dr. Flew had to conclude that life was NOT an accident, but the results of intelligent design by SOME kind of Intelligent Designer.

TRUE science ALWAYS leads to Truth. (Jesus said "I am Truth"). It's only those who gain a LITTLE knowledge, but incomplete, that conclude that God isn't real.

After all, God DID say, "Come now, let us REASON together."

It is the oppressive dogma of the atheistic world view, such as during Stalin's regime or Pol Pot, or all the atheist countries behind the "iron curtain", prior to the fall of the "iron curtain", and the atheist, communist dictatorial regimes that flourish when true expression of religious freedom is squelched.

You really need to study history, or you're destined to repeat their mistakes, then your children will have to pay for your dogma and anti-god philosophies!

Oh look, big words, you must be smart, because you used "big words" I'm so impressed, not really I'm just mocking you

learn ure history..if it wasnt for religion.. things that you cherish as sights of "intelligence " would not exist... if it wasnt for religion civillisation would be based on the law of the jugle..."might makes right"
