Well, I can't say for certain, but it sounds like it's about drinking. With some alcohol, such as spirits (strong drinks), whiskey, and brandy especially, it tastes good but the feeling is a type of burn on the tongue and throat (which is why one should never chug it and it's only given in very small amounts). So the quote's "fire" could be brandy, meaning the person's saying "brandy feels good back on my tongue." This could mean the person hasn't drank in a while, or is an alcoholic since even a couple hours can seem forever and they exagerrate how good alcohol is.
