...if driven gently? From what I've seen the gas mileage is somewhere between 35-45, depending on displacement. On Wikipedia I read that the European version of the Kawasaki ZZR600 could get as many as 60mpg, if driven gently. If that gas mileage is correct, then that rivals the 250 & 500 Ninjas!
 
Don't think your info on the Euro 600 is correct since they do not recognize "miles per gallon". Any mid-size Japanese bike (600-700cc) should get in the neighborhood of 45-55 mpg if you don't drive like an idiot. Hell, my 870+ pound full dress tour bike averages 42-45 running two up on the highway if I take it easy and I've gotten as high as 49 by myself. If you can't get at least 50, you're not driving it right.
 
Who the hell rides an inline-four gently ?
If your too cheap to buy fuel get a 250 single !
