what format do music videos have to be on Playstation 3...vob, Divx, avi..?

I am trying to put music videos on ps3 through a wireless connection via my PC. Can they be in any format? Some of them open only with Divx, and some with media player and their both in avi format. And also I cant connect to my router via my ps3. Yes I have the media sharing on, the ps3. So what do I have to do to my PC? Please leave a detailed answer. It is greatly appreciated.
