What happens when you ride a bike with flat Tyre's?

I recently had a flat tyre on my bike. I was about 2 miles from home, so i rode it back, but slowly. What has this done?

Do i need to buy a new tyre as well as a inner tube.

It's a Road bike by the way.

Eventually you will ruin the rims. Two miles was probably too long if the tire was completely flat. Yes, buy new tires and tubes. Don't put yourself at risk to save a few dollars.

i would look at the beads on the rim for damage like flat spots or knicks. the new tyre and tube won't seat right or last long if the rim is damaged.
