What Happens when you use expired film?

I've been into photography since I was a kid but I never thought about using expired film.
I'm 17 and already sell many of my photos and have taken photos for big companies and things and have them sold for tourism of my area and am in exhibitons and such but I never thought about expired film...

What actually happens when you use expired film? Do you get more of a unique look?
