What if you DON'T pay the required data plan for a smartphone?

I want a smartphone from AT&T (Motorola BackFlip) But I don't want to pay the extra money for the data service. What if I get the phone & just not pay for the data? What will happen besides me not getting internet?

You just will not be able to use enternet, So you should just pick the talk &Text plan, I'm going to buy the HTC HD2 Phone, from tmobile, and I was asking a lot of questions about the data plan also, and that's what the tmobile chat told me, that you just wont get enternet. So if you don't want to pay more money every month, theres no point of picking the talk, text &web.
