What interests people on facebook status?

Most of the people that I have on Facebook are my high school friends and classmates, some relatives, and some college friends. It's my second year in college. When I post my status updates, it seems like only like only my closest friends are the ones that like it or comment. I mean it's normal. It's like I'm a boring guy or something, not interesting for the other 280 or so people I have on there. Sometimes I have something meaningful to say for that day and no one even comment or like the status. I don't expect people to comment or like all of status updates, but I don't know what it is that other people get so much attention for something useless. What do people post on their status that makes people interested?

well what attracted me the other day was a status about the existence of god... it depends on the persons interests.

Even though you have 280 friends or w/e they are not online all at the same time so they don't all see it in their news feed and i know that i never like or comment someones status if i don't know them very well.. Its normal that just your closer friends like and comment on your status's

i like posting insirational quotes or jokes, something to get people thinking or even something stupid funny that someone said.
