The first pond is 350 gallons in a secluded part of the yard, it has turtle friendly places to sun themselves but they are completely blocked in by a wall of stone. They are not allowed to leave the pond except to get on stone bridges to sun themselves. Currently they are kept with four koi and two goldfish, they do not harm the fish. Filtration is adequate for a 5000 gallon pond, no joke. Overkill basically.

The second pond is 2,000 gallons in a constantly visited part of the yard. It does not have places within the pond for them to sun but they can get out and wander. The pond is not turtle proof but my backyard offers no ways to escape. The pond is a Koi and goldfish pond with filtration adequate for up to a 3,000 gallon pond.

My question is what is your opinion as to which pond is better suited for turtles? My main concerns are

-turtles harming fish.
-turtles constantly afraid of people and dog.
-turtles wandering my backyard and getting hurt or lost. Not a big yard though.

I currently have four turtles in the small pond and they do not hurt the fish they are kept with but I am somewhat afraid their behavior will change if I put them in a larger pond. What is your opinion on the subject? Any issues I didn't bring up?
