I'm looking into purchasing a laptop, I'm noticing a lot of them say they have bluetooth. I know what bluetooth is for a cell phone. What is it for a pc? Is it the
same as wi-fi? I haven't purchased a pc forever, all I know is what processor and memory size I should have otherwise I'm kinda lost. The accessories have change a lot. Any tips?

Bluetooth allows you to do any of the following things:

1) transfer files wirelessly (like from your laptop, to your cell phone)
2) set up a small wireless internet network (for example, other computers can connect to the internet using your bluetooth laptop)
3) connect to devices wirelessly (i.e. wireless mouse, wireless mouth-piece, wireless game controller)

That's pretty much it. Bluetooth is really for wireless connectivity. They were actually on Laptops before they were on Cell Phones. a lot of people don't know that.

WiFi is wireless, Blue Tooth is for connecting any type of Blue Tooth devise to a laptop from a external Blue Tooth key board, head set to a smart phone etc.
Wi-Fi (also spelled Wifi or WiFi) is a popular technology that allows an electronic device to exchange data wirelessly (using radio waves) over a computer network, including high-speed Internet connections. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi
Bluetooth, is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances (using short-wavelength radio transmissions in the ISM band from 2400–2480 MHz) from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks (PANs) with high levels of security. Created by telecom vendor Ericsson in 1994,[2] it was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS-232 data cables. It can connect several devices, overcoming problems of synchronization.
