I have been invited to a trial day in an Early Years Setting. Because I am a native German speaker I have been asked to prepare a German lesson for the 3-5-year-old preschool children. I have worked in nurseries and primary schools before but I really don't know the best way to introduce a foreign language to preschool children. How do I motivate children to learn about Germany and the German language? Has anyone got a good/fun idea for a lesson starter?
I am familiar with German children's songs and games but don't know the best way to start the lesson as the kids are only 3-5 and can't obviously be expected to complete worksheets.
I have only got two days left to prepare the lesson and I am getting very frustrated.
