What is a good soap recipe?

I want to make some soap, have never done it before but I want to keep it completely natural. I have looked around the internet for some recipes but many of them are for making bulk and it doesnt have anyones opinion of the soap so i dont know what it is like. if anyone has a nice recipe id love to have a go or a recommendation for any books that teach small quantities.
