Trucks nor SUVs are known for decent mileage. Besides unless you plan to live 20 miles away most student's vehicles get parked and collect dust, dirt, leaves, etc. day after day and week after week. Just a waste of money, if you wish for my opinion. If wish to buy a vehicle with "decent mpg" at your price range then you must change to a small car. But I will not do your homework for you. You should be old enough to find the right car for yourself.
