What is a "safe for kids" handheld? All the kids are wanting expensive IPADS.?

What is a "safe for kids" handheld? All the kids are wanting expensive IPADS.?

Surely there is a handheld made for kids, without Youtube access (inappropriate), video texting (questionable),phone, and internet. Just games and books and "contact-friend only" texting and school tutors. ha
 
Really the only options are the kindle fire or perhaps the Nintendo DSi/3DS.

As for child friendliness the Nintendo DSi is probably the best but you can't contact/text anyone on it, only view websites that are image/text base, (Like you can't view videos on it, but you can view like a wikipedia page or do a google search), and the parental options for the Nintendo DSi are of course very good since the Nintendo DSi/3DS is made for children. And of course since its a gaming console as well as a handeld the games on it are superior to anything the ipad or any other tablet/handheld has.

I think on Ipads there might parental options in which you can censor or limit what your children can do, you may want to contact the apple store/support and ask if there are some type of parental options for it.
