Hey internet, so I was just up at Pigeon Falls in Grand Portage, MN and this is the river that forms part of the U.S. Canadian Border. And after seeing the high falls I took a 2 mile hike on a low traveled hiking trail to see what they called middle falls. And in this remote location at the falls where Canada was less then 10 feet across the narrow part of the falls, there was a metal disk pounded into the rock we were standing on. It was stamped with "U.S. & C.B. survey 1846" and there was a triangle in the middle. So I was wondering what that is about what is C.B. census bureau? Colony of Britain? And what was the marker for the border? As far as I know the border is the river or does Canada lay claim to to whole thing? Since this possible border marker was on the united states side? Any info would be appreciated thanks!
