What is acrylic mink?

Is it some kind of fake fur? Real fur? I do not know much about these kinds of things, so yeah. I just found something online that mentioned this, and I was really wondering. Can anyone tell me?
 
acrylic mink is artificial and is used mostly for blankets. It's manufactured mainly in Asia. You can get the blankets in solids, or in printed colors and they are fairly cheap. (Just check amazon.com. and such..) Real mink on the other hand, is extremely expensive.
