I ordered a book from Amazon, and when I received it it said "An Advance Reviewer Copy - Uncorrected Proof - Not for sale". Did I somehow get one of those rare versions of the uncorrected book that get passed around before publishing?
Yes - It's a copy that's given to reviewers while the book is still in production, so it doesn't reflect the exact final copy of the book, but it's close enough that reviewers can still write a review and post it to their blogs or newspapers.
If you want the final edit of the book, you can contact amazon to get it straightened out. If you want to keep it as a quirky souvenir, then you can do that too.
