I'm using BitTorrent for downloading movies and software's. I see " download rate " and " upload rate".
What is being uploaded? Even after completing my download something or the other is being uploaded. Is it any file in my computer hard disk drive ?

Bittorrent uploads any chunks of a file you've downloaded while you're downloading more. When you're done, it seeds that file, which means it's uploading it to whoever requests a chunk.

The same files that you are downloading are simultaneously being uploaded.

The way bittorrent works is this... Files are divided into small segments. Each segment is downloaded from a peer. When you have a complete segment, the next peer downloads that segment from you.

When you download a file, you are also uploading segments of that same file to other peers who do not yet have that segment.

Bittorrent is a P2P program..... its like sharing.

the file is on someones computer and he uploads it to everyone downloading.... now his connection isnt fast enough to service everyone right?

so in bittorrent everyone downloading the file is also uploading the file, and by uploading you are helping in how fast people are downloading it and helping keep the file up for downloading.

so the answer is you are uploading the files that you just downloaded. You can cap it if its slowing your connection down to make it only upload 50 or 100 kbps etc.
