I got my first phone for Christmas, and I have no clue what bluetooth is. Everytime I ask someone, they either laugh, or ask me if i'm serious.

there is two uses for bluetooth.
1) is the earpiece thingy that connects wirelessly to your phone so you can answer and talk on the phone without actually holding it.
2) a method of sending someone a picture, song, or video. like infrared, but different.

bluetooth is a type of wireless technology. Bluetooth is available for most newer mobile phones. Bluetooth can transfer information wirelessly from your bluetooth enabled phone to an other bluetooth wireless phone, or to a computer. Also instead of plugging a corded handset into your phone, you can buy a wireless handset that uses bluetooth, no wires needed!! the typical range for a bluetooth handset is 30 ft. Bluetooth handsets are often handy for talking hands-free, without having to hold your phone and without the fuss of the wire. I have a bluetooth enabled phone and use a wireless handset and its awesome! hope this helped

Bluetooth: Bluetooth® is the codename for a technology specification for low-cost, short-range radio links between mobile PCs, mobile phones and other portable devices, and connectivity to the Internet. The Bluetooth specification marks the first time that major players in the converging communications and computer industries have defined a radio standard that allows mobile phones, hand-held computers and PCs to communicate wirelessly with each other without manual intervention from the user. The specification's ability to meet cost/performance needs for a whole raft of applications will be a significant factor in its adoption. Bluetooth is lower in cost than alternative wireless standards and will also often allow a lower cost replacement for cables and connectors, particularly when accounting for installation and maintenance. It is about to revolutionize the personal connectivity market by providing freedom from wired connections.
