I have had 2TB Lacie external drives that have been working esata fine for a year with Windows Vista 64 and then with Windows 7, suddenly, they are locking up, then working fine, then blue screen, then working fine, then not showing up, then demanding format and not working, but then starting to work... I have tried everything. Flashed bios, tried them with just usb 2.0, deleted drivers, reinstalled drivers, formated (when it works), rolled back to Vista 64, tried Windows 7 32, and I still get the same issues... they work fine for awhile then stop. The drives usually show up in "manage" but often say that they need to be formated but then says it can't format them. Sometimes when I start the computer it won't load windows if they are plugged in and sometimes wants to check for errors.
I am at my wits end. I purchased a brand new 2TB drive from a different manufacturer and have the same problems with it.
Could this be something going bad on the mother board? I mean, I can't think of anything else to try.
