Today.. my SUV was acting weird. after i start the ignition, when i put it on "drive" ("D") it starts to go backwards; again when i try it at "R" again it is going backwards; when i put it on park and try the brake pedal it was kind of "heavy" - i mean it was not as it used to. I tried it after i turn off again and again. it was the same. like four times. In addition to that, the engine starts to die after it starts.
Finally, one of my friend tried it ... he push the gas much first and then put it to "D" .. then it becomes fine. after i drive it after like 20 min. to home. I tried to start it after a 2 hour gap. It was not able to start. Just a "click" .. like a starter problem. and finally after repetition it starts and runs well.
Can somebody tell me what i could do before i go to a mechanic?? (The check engine light is not flashing. ie every thing looks normal)
