im american and i am doing this exchanged program and one of the places we're going to is London. i've heard a lot about it but i want to hear about it from someone who lives there or has lived there or knows a lot about it. what's the culture like? and the people? any places i should visit when i'm there?
i realize there are different cultures, which is what i was asking. no need for rudeness i was aking for a simple question. im staying there for 16 days, smart ass.
^ @onlytrying.
@onlytrying: your the reason some americans think brits are rude.

I'm from London (:
Culture? Hmm. Depends what part you're going to, Central London has loads going on!
You should visit Piccadilly Circus, its a pretty good landmark in terms of the city. You can shop on Regent street and ride on the London Underground.
Major tourist attractions include
- The London Eye
- Buckingham palace (several rooms are open to the public at certain times each year, and the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress has been on display)
- Houses Of Parliament
- National Art Gallery
- London Aquarium
...it would also be fun (considering you're American) to have your photo taken in a telephone box! Haha. London has some beautiful architecture that you could always admire, after all it is free :p

Everybody in London - I'm not quite sure why - is always rushing. The people are very busy!

Have a great trip!

It must be good, else the UK government wouldn't spend every single scrap of money they have on the place without fairly distributing it to the rest of the country.

The only reason London is good is because government spend everything there. The rest of the country actually does pretty well to keep up given we don't get any funding whatsoever.

Anyway. I came from London, now live in Manchester, and London's a horrible place. I'm gay, and almost every day there I got hurled abuse from across the street, tripped up in the street etc. I visited Manchester once to visit friends and realised it was a much more friendly city, and so I now live here by choice. It depends what you're into, I just find it a horrible place.

Lol, London gets all the money spent on it? What a load of crap. Maybe that was true 100 years ago, but these days Wales, Scotland and the North of England gets more than its fair share of cash, much of which is subsidised by South East English tax payers.

how can you expect a city of millions to have a single 'culture' or to have the people described?

as for the places to visit, go read a book or use a site called google.

if London is only of the places,I suspect you'll have the usual American two days there so I wouldn't get too excited about getting into the 'culture'.

sorry. unanswerable question. Big historic, busy city with people, problems, good bits, bad bits.

It's shit! London has officially no white people anymore!! It is full of crime and chavs! Everyone thinks they are absolutely fucking amazing... there not! You will most likely get started on, and get in a few fights or get mugged.
