What is making a vibration noise under my Jeep?

I just bought a 1998 Jeep Wrangler with low miles and recently it started to make some noise under the vehicle. I thought it could be the exhaust pipe just vibrating, but when I tried to take out the skid plate to see what was the problem, the transmission was actually resting on the skid plate. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be resting on the skid plate. Does anyone have an idea where the noise could be coming from or if the transmission is really supposed to be resting on the skid plate? Thanks

It may not supposed to be on that skidplate. I have a Jeep also, but a Grand Cher.
I don't surmise that it would make noise just because of the contact, but maybe. You should check the cat. conv. like he said though.

If it is a loud rattle as you idle or rev it up. It Is a Catalytic Converter.
It has started to come loose inside the shell and will need replaced.
Any exhaust shop should be able to handle this job. 200-300 dollars.
