While many may view teen pregnancy as just another statistic, it is a complex and controversial issue that needs to be addressed for the simple fact that it affects many families in the world. People have to pay higher taxes to help support teens when their families or the person who got them pregnant aren't being financially responsible. Families are losing their jobs and being denied by the state for assistance because there are so many young mothers receiving food stamps, TANF, and medical. Not only is teenage pregnancy affecting society, it affects the mother and child as well. Teenagers who become pregnant are less likely to complete high school and attend college. As you can see, teenage pregnancy has adverse consequences for the parent, the child, and society. So the question is this: What can our society do to help prevent this issue? In order to prevent something you have to essentially know what is causing it. What is the cause of the increase of teenage pregnancy in the world?
